Application Deadline: October 15, 2019 (new deadline)
Apply to attend ICON 2020 in Baltimore March 29-31

Are you the next Chamberlain Scholar? Each year, the Chamberlain enables an outstanding chapter member who has never attended an AFP International Conference to do so. Past Scholars report that the conference is a great experience with more than 150 educational sessions designed to serve fundraisers from entry level to highly experienced. ICON 2020 is in Baltimore, Maryland, March 29-31, 2020.

AFP Golden Gate Chamberlain Scholarship

AFP Golden Gate members are invited to apply for the Chamberlain. The Membership Committee and past Chamberlain Scholars select the recipient based on criteria established by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy:

  • Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional, or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
  • Candidate has never attended an AFP International Conference as a registered participant.
  • Candidate agrees to complete a post-conference online evaluation.

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy covers the conference registration fee (valued over $700). Scholars pay a $10 fee to secure the registration. AFP Golden Gate reimburses travel and lodging costs up to $1200. The Scholar is responsible for registering for the conference, making all travel and lodging arrangements, and submitting a request to AFP Golden Gate for travel/lodging reimbursement with receipts.

Application Process

Complete the online application.

Deadline for submission is October 15, 2019. Notification of the selected Scholar by November 10, 2019.

The Chamberlain Scholarship honors Ralph Chamberlain, CFRE, a long-time fundraiser and supporter of AFP. He helped form one of the association's first chapters, the Greater New York Chapter and served as both AFP Chair and AFP Foundation Chair. The AFP Board of Directors named the conference scholar program in Mr. Chamberlain's honor in the year 2000.
